Molecular Biologist Research Technician Intern

Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized, motivated, and driven individual to join our
internship program as a Molecular Biology Research Technician Intern.

The intern will work with scientists and experts in molecular biology to design, execute, analyze, and interpret research experiments in an exciting and fast-paced environment.


In this role the successful candidate will:
● Gather and prepare biological samples, such as cell lines and cell cultures, for
laboratory analysis.
● Set up, maintain, and clean laboratory instruments and equipment.
● Perform and analyze biochemical experiments.
● Work with animals; participate in experiments using mice.
● Perform routine laboratory tests and procedures for assigned ongoing research
studies and may assist in conducting more complex experiments/procedures.
● Operate traditional laboratory instruments, to conduct experiments, such as
centrifuges, cell counters, and PCR instrumentation.
● Use specialized computer software to collect, analyze and model experimental
● Follow good laboratory safety practices and comply with safety protocols.
● Document work including equipment settings, procedures, and results according

● May complete preliminary analysis of experimental data and interpret results.

technologies involving detection of biomarkers from liquid biopsies.


To participate in the IrisDx Internship Program, students must meet the following criteria:

● Familiarity with traditional and specialized laboratory equipment, including
specialized computer programs/software.
● Knowledge of good laboratory practice, lab health and safety principles.
● Effective oral and written communication.
● Ability to understand and interpret results.
● Experience in basic cell culture and molecular biology techniques strongly
preferred, including maintaining cell lines, extracting RNA/DNA from cells and
tissue, performing PCR and Western blot.
● Willingness to work with mice.
To participate in the IrisDx Internship Program, students must meet the following criteria:
● Eligible to work in the United States without company sponsorship
● Physical or life sciences major with knowledge of basic microbiology.
Undergraduate research or work experience preferred. Graduate student or
highly-qualified rising Junior or Senior.
● Grade point average of 3.2 or higher preferred
● Have hands-on experience in a biology or microbiology laboratory. Ability to use
a micropipette, and use aseptic technique in a sterile lab environment.
● Ability to be responsible for conducting routine laboratory tasks that are critical to
successful department operation.
● Excellent written documentation and laboratory organizing skills. Ability to follow
oral and written procedures precisely.
● Be a fast learner with scientific curiosity, attention to detail, strong work ethic and
work well on a team.
● Commitment to complete the entire internship.
